The CIR Gold Medal is an award given by the College to one of its members as a distinction for having made a valuable contribution to the CIR and/or to the development of radiology.
It is intended for radiologists who have made extraordinary contributions or specific meritorious work, recognized as very valuable by the Interamerican College of Radiology.
1.1 The CIR Gold Medal is an award granted by the College to one of its members as a distinction for having made a valuable contribution to the CIR and/or to the development of radiology.
1.2. It is intended for radiologists who have made extraordinary contributions or specific meritorious work, recognized as very valuable by the Interamerican College of Radiology.
1.3. It is granted to members of the College affiliated through their respective Societies or Federations that constitute the CIR.
1.4. It may also be granted to Individual Members of the CIR, from non-affiliated countries, who meet the requirements of the Bylaws and these Regulations.
1.5. A maximum of two (2) medals shall be awarded at each Congress of the Interamerican College of Radiology.
2.1 The Gold Medal of the Interamerican College of Radiology is physically represented by a silver base with a gold outer cover.
2.2 The medal is round with a diameter of 5cm. and 0.5cm. thick, with a ring to be fastened with a ribbon. The medal shall be engraved on each side with the following: Side One: At the center, map of the American Continent with the name of the awardee on one side, with the date (year). Side Two: In the center, an engraving of the Staff of Aesculapius with laurel leaves and the legend: Interamerican College of Radiology.
3.1 The Board of Directors of the Interamerican College of Radiology shall call in writing to all the member Societies and Colleges to open the registration of candidates for a period of three (3) months prior to the Annual Assembly of the College, taking into account that the proposals shall close sixty (60) days prior to the date of the Annual Assembly.
3.2 The candidate to receive the Gold Medal may be proposed by:
3.2.1 The Board or Board of Directors of one or more National Collegiate Radiological Society(s).
3.2.2 The Board of Directors of the Interamerican College of Radiology.
3.2.3 The proposal must be made in writing, signed by 3 members of the Board of Directors of the proposing National Society. It shall mention the merits that support the nomination.
3.2.4 The letter of proposal must be submitted to the Secretariat of the Interamerican College of Radiology together with the candidate's curriculum vitae.
4.1. The Gold Medal of the Interamerican College of Radiology shall be awarded at a special session convened for that purpose.
The ceremony shall be an official part of the program of the Interamerican Congress of Radiology.
4.3. The Table of Honor shall be occupied by the Board of Directors of the Interamerican College of Radiology.
4.4. The honoree shall be introduced by a Member of the College, designated by the Board of Directors.
4.5. The Medal shall be placed on the neck of the recipient by the President of the Interamerican College of Radiology or his representative.
4.6. The delivery may be made outside the framework of an Inter-American Congress, only in exceptional circumstances and with the prior authorization of the Assembly.
The Academic Merit Award is intended to reward Radiology specialists who have had an outstanding academic or educational work, with national and international recognition. The award may also be granted in recognition of the publication or presentation of a scientific work of extraordinary importance.
2.1 The candidate to receive the Academic Merit Award may be proposed by:
3.1 The Academic Merit Award of the Interamerican College of Radiology may be presented at the Closing Session of the Interamerican Congress or at a session convened for that purpose.
3.2 The Award shall be presented by the President of the Interamerican College of Radiology or his/her representative.
3.3 The table of honor shall be occupied by the Board of Directors of the Interamerican College of Radiology.
The proposals for the awarding of the Benefactor Diploma will be made by the CIR's Board of Directors to persons or institutions that, in its opinion, have contributed to the development of the organization with technical, administrative or economic support. They will be submitted by the Secretary General to the Plenary of the Assembly, which must ratify them.
The award will be signified by a Diploma signed by the President and the members of its board of directors.
