Editorial
Dr. Miguel E. Stoopen

This year has witnessed a new stage for our still young publication. As it usually happens with many works, at the beginning it was rather hand-made and we lacked the means to make production easier. In our second year, we made our first attempts to edit it simultaneously in English, one of CIR’s official languages together with Portuguese; at that time, it was a complex task to get the bilingual material ready within the required timeframe.

The editors, the administrator and the producing company, Tercer Término, have worked hard to edit NOT i CIR simultaneously in these three languages, and to be on time on the first day of each month, an objective we have met in the last issues and hope to maintain. .

NOT i CIR is distributed through different channels. CIR’s administration sends it to National Societies to be delivered to their members. Some upload it onto their website to favor its accessibility; moreover, it is sent by e-mail to the 7,000 radiologists registered at present in CIR’s database.

All the issues are filed in the following website: www.cir-radioloogia.org . Monthly statistics indicate that NOT i CIR is one of the most visited sections.

Another method that has been used to assess our penetration is a survey placed inside the bulletin board. It was launched in July and is repeated in August. We ask our kind readers to click on the icon provided to help us gather this information.

Thanks so much to all those who have already completed it. Knowing we are read is encouraging indeed, and will help us select the material we send!

CIR’s Website

In our last issue of NOT i CIR we informed you that, on April 9, 2007, CIR’s website obtained the quality seal of the Quality Medical Websites project (www.pwmc.org) that deals with the websites related to human health developed in Spanish.

Therefore, the Publications Committee, the website Editors and the Board of Directors have agreed to place and maintain the crediting logotype on the home page www.cir-radiologia.org.

Profile of the Publications Committee

La Comisión de Publicaciones del CIR

Section 28 of CIR’s bylaws sets forth that the Publications Committee will be in charge of communicating the scientific findings to CIR's members and the official information authorized by the Assembly and/or the Board of Directors in magazines, newsletters or the electronic means available for which the committee will propose the Board of Directors the mechanisms required and request the necessary quotations. For their operation, the relevant committees may be created, one for each publication. The Director of each committee will hold the position of editor and the members may be appointed as co-editors

In order to fulfill its obligations, the committee relies on two essential tools:

The website www.cir-radiologia.org, created in 1997 as an institutional means which contains information about our organization, structure and relevant activities, has been polished and made richer with valued information for members and foreigners, thus broadening the readership, and been recently accredited as a Quality Medical Website.

NOT i CIR, a regular periodic publication edited as a monthly electronic newsletter, includes articles and images from the national associations and the board of directors. The administration makes it available to the board of directors of the 25 countries affiliated which later distribute it among its members. It is also sent directly to over 7,000 radiologists. Several societies upload it on their websites

A new project is ongoing for the publication of scientific papers including the participation of numerous authors from CIR countries about which you will be informed in NOT i CIR shortly.
